Her extensive experience and confidence treating patients throughout pregnancy, has helped her see many women all the way from “infertility” to healthy parenthood. Shelbi trained as a doula and received specialized training with Claudia Citkovitz in childbirth acupuncture. For many years she has supported labor with acupuncture and massage and has been blessed to be present for the arrival of many beautiful babies. This continues to be one of the greatest joys of her professional life. Her continuing study of Chinese Medicine furthers her training in fertility, pregnancy and postpartum health. She has taken courses in Classical Herbalism for the childbearing year from Genevieve Le Beoff and seminars from experts such as Debra Betts, Heiner Fruehauf, and Jayne Littleton. She has had training for understanding and implementing Chinese Medicine during IVF cycles. In May 2014, she will embark on a 2 year Graduate Mentorship program in Classical Herbalism with Sharon Weizenbaum.
Shelbi brings the asset of cosmetic acupuncture to The Nest. Cosmetic Acupuncture is a safe alternative to cosmetic surgery that rejuvenates the skin and reduces signs of aging. Shelbi trained with cosmetic acupuncture specialist, Martha Lucas P.h.d., and uses the Mei Zen protocol. She has enjoyed seeing many women and men get a renewed confidence and a healthy glow from having the 5 week course of cosmetic acupuncture treatment.
Her background in massage therapy and training in Japanese Meridian Therapy has informed her acupuncture practice—her approach to treatment is very hands on. She prefers using Dr. Tan balance method for most treatments.
Shelbi’s goal is to support vitality in her patients in the present moment with the aim of supporting the health of future generations. It is her life’s work to be supportive and nurturing toward the creation of healthy, happy families.
