FERTILITY FAQs

Overview

Q: When should I start acupuncture if I’m undergoing IUI/IVF/ or trying to conceive naturally?

A: We recommend starting acupuncture treatment as soon as possible. Did you know that it takes approximately 100 days for egg and sperm to develop? Take advantage of the time prior to procedure or trying to conceive naturally to give your body some extra TLC. Egg and sperm health respond positively to acupuncture, herbs, dietary and lifestyle changes and nutritional supplementation.

Egg and sperm meet to make a baby. Your health matters, their future matters.

Q: Can I take herbs if I’m undergoing  IUI/IVF cycle?

A: Generally speaking, we do not prescribe herbal medicine to patients while they are undergoing a medicated cycle- IUI/IVF/FET. However, there are circumstances when herbal medicine can be indispensible in helping patients achieve their desired outcome. For example: failure to respond to medications, insufficient uterine lining, cysts, or the presence of fluid in the uterus. The goal is not to interfere with hormone levels, rather, improve blood flow to the ovaries and uterus and address underlying stasis. Herbal medicine can be extremely therapeutic when allopathic medicine meets its limitations.

Q: Does my spouse or partner need to receive fertility supportive treatment as well?

A: It is highly recommended and beneficial for the spouse/partner to receive some amount of treatment while undergoing fertility treatment. Acupuncture, herbal medicine, supportive dietary supplements, lifestyle and dietary changes can have a big impact on producing healthy embryos.
