How It Works

Acupuncture uses hair fine needles to stimulate acupuncture points along energetic meridians, accessing the body’s qi/energy to promote healing and balance. Acupuncture is gentle and relaxing, yet very powerful. Acupuncture connects with the body’s energy at a deep level rectifying proper blood flow—supporting healing and overall health and well-being.  Acupuncture offers natural, effective treatment for many health conditions without unwanted side effects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who should not get acupuncture?

It is contraindicative to receive acupuncture if you have any bleeding disorders or are a hemophiliac, have a pacemaker (especially with electromicrostimulation), are super contagious, have a higher fever or are experiencing vomiting and/or diarrhea. Our practitioners will always ensure patient safety before providing acupuncture.

Can Chinese herbs affect my menstrual cycle?

Yes, depending on the differential diagnosis. This needs to be first addressed through pulse and tongue diagnosis. We look to understand why you're having issues with your menstrual cycle, and based upon findings, appropriate herbs will be prescribed to have very specific effects on blood flow, stasis, energy, heat, presentation, cold, and low Qi function. Low Qi causes menstrual dysfunction, because the body becomes slow, which allows accumulation to build and causes obstruction. Obstruction blocks flow and impacts the menstrual cycle. Herbs can alleviate and correct this by harmonizing and nourishing the body.

How long do the benefits of acupuncture last?

This is absolutely dependent on what patients are doing after sessions to either build upon or unravel the effects of the session. At The Nest, we'll also work with you to create supportive routines and habits that will support your in-office visits. The more committed you are to these practices, the longer the benefits of your clinical experience will last.

Can Chinese medicine help menopause?

Yes. First, we work to get the correct diagnosis. Symptomology is tough with menopause, because the symptoms can be common and associated with many diagnoses. This is why pulse diagnosis is so key, because we're looking to find the cause of the symptoms. Once we determine if the cause is driven by a deficiency or excess (or even both), we can begin to treat it using Chinese Medicine.

Does acupuncture help balance hormones?

Yes, acupuncture helps to balance hormones the minute we start accessing the body's energy and blood. In TCM, the blood houses the hormones, and the hormones are a component of the blood. The blood is the Mother - it houses the energy (Qi), but at the same time, the Qi commands the blood.  We start addressing the blood and redirecting flow to remove stasis, which begins to improve circulation. This gives the body a chance to recalibrate the hormones because you're removing the blocks.

Can you heal cervical dysplasia naturally?

Yes. First, it's important to get the proper diagnosis from a Pap Smear Exam. Once diagnosed, we focus on using vitamins, supplements, nutrition, and lifestyle to heal the liver. HPV is a lingering pathogenic factor that is viral. Viruses that are stagnant and lingering, like HPV, hang out in the liver, which can cause things to go awry in the bloodstream. We focus on purifying the blood and liver to naturally heal cervical dysplasia.
